 15-09-2013 Quarter Final v Solent ThrashersAWAY L- 43

2013 again saw Tony Bainbridge retaining the Head Coach’s role for his 4th season with veteran receiver Pete Cook retiring to lead the receivers as WR coach. The coaching and playing ranks were further boosted by the recruitment of former Philadelphia Eagle defensive back Earl Perkins who brought much welcomed experience and intensity to the defense.

A great recruitment drive in the offseason saw a host of players join the Exiles most notably Sophie Weaver, spurned by the Maidstone Pumas, who became the first lady to play for the Exiles since Hana Rabuzin in 2006. University and Youth graduates also boosted the ranks come May with over 60 registered Exiles in what would be a strong season.

The season would start with a routine win over the Essex Spartans for the ‘Battle of the Bridge’ trophy before losing to eventual National Champions Colchester. Following that, history would be made with an 86-0 victory against Maidstone breaking the Exiles record for most points in a game which paved the way for a 6 game winning streak putting up 282 points!

Playoff football was back once again but a forfeit by Bedfordshire tacked a 1-0 win to the winning record before a disappointing loss against Watford meant the Exiles would travel to familiar foes Hampshire Thrashers in the Quarter Final of the playoffs

A dominant performance in the trenches by the Thrashers on both side of the ball eventually ended Exiles playoff bid at the first hurdle in what would be Exiles legend Aaron Alexis’ final game.

Aaron would go on to be honored at the End of Season party by Exiles past and present with the club deciding to retire the coveted number 50 jersey worn by Alexis for the last 14 years.
