Another disappointing year which had shown promise in pre-season, although we did greatly improve on the 2001 season, and grew as a team for the second year running.

Our final record of 1-7-1 was our best in three years, although we were still to win a game in our own right, rather than being awarded the points.

The season was blemished slightly be the demise of the Maidstone Puma's who were forced to pull out on the eave of the season due to lack of players, thus giving us only an eight game schedule rather than 10.

The highlight of the year was the long planned inception of the youth teams, after finding a coach in Mike Pemberton the Exiles recruited around 15 children to play, and formed a cadet and a junior flag football squads.

Both teams played in two tournaments in the summer, with the Cadets winning their second tournament, and the Juniors only losing to the defending national champions by one touchdown in theirs.

The end of the 2002 season also saw the retirement of Nick Cursley as head coach, Nick had been a great servant to the club, and a driving force behind the steady improvement the playing squad had shown.
