The 1992 squad which features 4 of the 11 nominees
The Kent Exiles this week announced the 11 players and staff who had been shortlisted for nomination into the Exiles Hall of Fame for 2006.
Every year the club honours one of it's former members who has been an outstanding servant to the club in the past. Players need to have been retired for three seasons, and coaches or staff for one season to be eligable to join the hall.
This years nominations include Phil Patton, arguably the clubs first 'real' quarterback. Aaron Vogel who showed up to training one day having never played before, and then stayed for 9 seasons! Chris Dryden whose great career was cut short by injury. And Graham Gosling, our first Head Coach, and joint founder of the team as we know it today.
The nominees for 2006 in full are;
Phil Patton - QB - 1993-94
Chris Dryden - DB - 1992-95, 2001
Scott Aitchison - DL - 1994, 96-98
Ian 'Squeak' Collins - DL - 1991-93
Nigel Brown - OL - 2001
Steve Bridgeland - OL - 1996-97
Simon Clarke - Statistician - 1997-2004
Stephen Chandler - OL - 1994-98
Aaron Vogel - OL - 1992-2000
Graham Gosling - Head Coach and founder - 1991-94
Julian Wates - DL/RB - 1994, 96-97
The nominations are made by a panel of the clubs long serving members, and then voted on by the whole panel to determine the recipient.
So, who will be joining Exiles legends John Garner, Peter Fisher, Nick Cursley and Dan Dart in the Hall of Fame? Well voting is taking place now, and the enshrinee will be announced at a special ceremony at the Exiles final home game of the season, where they will be the guest of honour and receive their award.
Have your say in our guestbook!
Do you know the whereabouts of any of our nominees? Please get in touch if you do, as we have lost contact with many of them over the years, and we would love to be able to track them all down.
