Local rivals once again prove too strong
Kent Exiles 6-13 Invicta Eagles
in this defensive battle, big plays were the key to every score, the first by the Eagles in the second quarter when they returned an interception to the Exiles 3 yard line, and then drove in for the touchdown, to give them a 6-0 lead at half time.
In the 3rd quarter, Simon Butler recovered an Eagles fumble and rumbled 66 yards for the touchdown, only to have it called back on an inadvertant whistle by the officials. The Exiles then turned the ball over deep in Eagles territory only to see them break loose on a 94 yard touchdown run and a 13-0 lead.
It was then the Exiles turn, with a 40 yard kick return by Martin Jefkins, and a 15 yard personal foul penalty on the Eagles, setting up Matt Tompsett for a 3 yard touchdown run, bringing the score back to 13-6.
The Exiles then held the Eagles on their next drive, but could not score in the remaining minute, and the clock ran out to leave the Eagles 13-6 winners.Tweet
