Exiles Celebrate Outstanding Achievment with Jack Petchey

03-04-2017

The Kent Exiles presented its first four awards of the year of the Jack Petchey Silver Scheme at their recent Festival of Football held last month. The awards went to:

Prince Wynter – Junior Team

Prince came to us as a young man with very limited experience. He knew nobody at the club and was very quiet - but straight away the coaches saw the potential in him. Last year in the championship winning season, he was a pivotal part of our offence. With his powerful running and his near perfect stiff arm, he is now a much valued, popular team member.

Sam Pantlin – Rebels Youth Team

Sam consistently makes training, has a great attitude and has perhaps made the greatest progress given the position he is playing and the fact that he never played before (i.e. at flag)

Steve Pontikos – Outlaws Youth Team

Steve gives the team everything he has during Practice and Game situations. Now in his third season, Steve is becoming a leader within the team, whilst also steadily improving his own play. He is respectful, and highly respected by teammates and opponents alike, because of his tenacious attitude and desire to play despite his physical limitations. Steve shows great teamwork, and always brings positivity to any team activity.

Luke Jefkins – Flag Under 14’s Team

Luke has been an ever present since joining the programme and has developed exceptional skills. In addition, he is keen to learn and has supported Flag Camps run by American Football Development, which has increased his knowledge and skills.

These four awards are the first of the scheme's six well deserved winners for 2017. The Club will be presenting two further awards later on in the year.

The Club would like to thank the Jack Petchey Foundation for its continued support of young people in the community. Their contribution is making a huge difference to the Kent Exiles American Football Organisation.

The Jack Petchey Foundation’s vision is of a world where young people have high aspirations; the opportunity to develop their potential; the chance to be architects of their own future; to play a full part in society and to be valued and recognised for the positive things they achieve.

They aim to enable young people (aged 11 – 25 years), to achieve their potential by inspiring, investing in, developing and promoting activities that increase their personal, social, emotional and physical development.
